I found a modern illuminated piece of art by Jeff Bacon. He has many different ones that he has done. He loves seeing the difference of art then and now "I can’t help but draw a comparison between the modern graphic novel and those older illustrated documents. And feel inspired to resurrect and modernize the style for my own purposes. Others have done it over the years, so I’m not the first, but it will be interesting to see how it’s received in the comic/graphic novel community."
